Winter Sweets

We are now into the month of August and pretty much the last few weeks of winter! Yay, right? I tend to find that usually August is the coldest month here every year and this year hasn’t been that much different, except that this year’s winter is pretty mild. Chilly, yes, and a couple of days where we've had the real-feel temperature plunge to zero degree Celcius, as well as frosted car windows But the maximum temperatures have been hovering at around fifteen degree Celcius. Which makes for a pretty awesome and warm winter! That being said, I wonder if there is a correlation between this year’s warm winter and hot summer… Summer at the start of the year was extremely intense with the temperature hitting the low 40 degrees. Absolutely hated it. All I wanted to do was to sit in the bath and count to like, 24 hours. Looks like this global warming business is getting real…

One of my pet peeves during winter (well, other than freezing toilet seats) are wet sleeves! Haha geddit? Pet peeves, wet sleeves? I’m such a poet! Whenever I go to the sink to wash my face and I lift the water up to my face, the water never fails to seep out and wet my sleeves and this is during the cold months when I have to wear thick furry sleeves. And I get really annoyed because then my wrists and forearms have to soak in a cold and wet furry environment which takes ages to dry and all the blood in my forearms stops circulating because they’re all frozen solid. Okay only kidding they’re not frozen solid but it is so uncomfortable

The winter months though, are not all bad because they’re great for baking and cooking and hanging out in the kitchen. Tip: It is probably not the best idea to be cooking during summer months. Since I've had some free time, I’ve been spending time in the kitchen and no, not making sandwiches for the misogynists The last time I made churros, I piped them in little ring shapes. This time I made them into sticks so it would be easier for dipping into hot chocolate and for coating in little sugar crystals. Also I believe that’s the traditional shape of churros anyway haha

Alright, I might have gone a little crazy with the sugar there, but hey, it tastes really good! It’s not sickly sweet because there is hardly any sugar in the dough itself.

Hang in there everyone with your favourite winter warmer desserts! Winter is almost over!
